Teach Your Children

The opening songs relate to homes and families. A man and woman become “husband and wife.” They move into a home, and “they have children.” The responsibilities that follow are far beyond those that most young couples can even imagine. The seriousness of preparing children for adulthood and parenting their own children can not be understated. Education is a matter of importance for all parents. Today, there is a serious problem in government education that seems to be just as pronounced as an elephant in the refrigerator; it just won’t seem to go away!

The following video shows young people of college age. As they are being interviewed they are asked simple questions that relate to the founding of the USA. Amazingly enough, the great majority of those who were interviewed had no idea of the beginnings of the USA. It is shocking to think that those college students are voters, and are ill-equipped to take on such an important role in society. Watch the video, and we will continue with this discussion.

The United States Department of Education (DOE) was created in 1979 during the Carter (Democrat) Administration, and was made active in 1980. The DOE is an agency of the U.S. government that is at “cabinet level,” which means that each President appoints someone who will be its leader. The DOE leader is confirmed by the Senate, and is directly responsible to the President. Because the appointment is of a political nature, the mindset of the President finds its way into the mind and operation of the DOE Secretary. It is common knowledge that Democrat presidents favor abortion on demand and same-sex marriage, as well as other liberal beliefs that will find their way into the day-to-day operation of the DOE, and of all other cabinet level departments of government. The following link will provide a more detailed fact list that relates to the DOE.

The United States Department of Education (ED or DoED), also referred to as the ED for (the) Education Department, is a Cabinet-level department of the United States government. Recreated by the Department of Education Organization Act (Public Law 96-88) and signed into law by President Jimmy Carter on October 17, 1979, it began operating on May 4, 1980.[2]
The Department of Education Organization Act divided the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare into the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services. The Department of Education is administered by the United States Secretary of Education. It has approximately 4,400 employees and an annual budget of $68 billion (2016).[1]

The success of the Department of Education is less than stellar. The information that follows is quite shocking, in that it shows that performances of high school SAT scores have not improved, but have gotten worse since the DOE became operational and began to set the course of education for the public schools in the USA.

The categories of comparison are: Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing, and are shown from 1981-2016. The scores are also shown for 1967. The scores are based on Male, Female and the average of Male and Female. There is no such category as “non-gender specific,” or any of the other “additives” that came about during the Obama (Democrat) administration. Imagine what it will be like for the proper grading of these scores in the future, with possibly never-ending category types of sex types of students. (Don’t say “gender!” It is the “sex of the student” that our schools have used for many years for student types. Check the word “sex” in the Websters New World Dictionary Of The American Language College Edition,1964 edition.) Consider the following SAT scores:

Critical Reading. 1967 – 543; 1980/81 – 502; 1991 – 499; 2001 – 506; 2011 – 497; 2016 – 494.
Mathematics. 1967 – 516; 1980-81 – 492; 1991 – 500; 2001 – 514; 2011 – 514; 2016 – 508.

Consider all of the tax money that has been poured into the Department of Education. Ask yourself, “why!” And,”why are we offering our children on the altars of government schools?”

It is the responsibility of parents to provide for the care of their children. God’s Word states that parents have the responsibility to prepare their children for an education of God’s Word. Because the DOE has done such a poor job of educating our children, parents must become greatly involved in the education of their children. There are many parents who, themselves, grew up and received “a government education,” which is really a poor example of an education. Still, all parents are responsible for the education of their children.

Deuteronomy 6:4-8 New King James Version (NKJV)

4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

6:7 teach them diligently to your children. The commandments were to be the subject of conversation, both inside and outside the home, from the beginning of the day to its end.(MacArthur Study Bible)

God’s instruction to the parents of the children of Israel was to “teach your children.” That process of instruction was, and is, an ongoing process. The law was given to the Jews in order for them to become a holy and righteous people, to bring a Holy and Righteous Messiah into the world. The importance of effectively teaching our children has never been greater than it is now.
