ETS Thought 031314, “Considering God And Light,” Genesis 1:3

Genesis 1:3
King James Version (KJV)
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

“Consider God – Consider Light – Consider God”

Genesis 1:1-5. This passage shows the physical creation of “the whole wide world.”
New King James Version (NKJV)
The History of Creation
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

John 1:1-9. This passage shows a new creation, a spiritual creation.
New King James Version (NKJV)
The Eternal Word
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John’s Witness: The True Light
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

Consider Light

Consider God…God created the heavens and the earth (vs 1). God said, “let there be light,” (vs 3).

Consider God, as He (Father, Son, And Holy Spirit) viewed His creation. He created the heavens and the earth (vs 1). He said, “let there be light,” (vs 3).

Consider God looking at His creation. Again, consider God looking at His creation. Again, consider God looking at His creation. Consider, God’s words, “Let there be light,” (vs 3).

God said, “let there be light” (the first day, vs 3); before He created, “the sun, moon, and stars,” (fourth day, vs 14-18); which were created after He created plant life, (third day, vs 9-13).

Consider the light of the sun, moon, and stars of the fourth day. Consider the light of the first day.

Consider why God would create “the whole wide world,” and say, “let there be light.”

Consider, “the whole wide world,” and its physical darkness.

Consider the “Light” of John1:4-5, 7-9. Consider spiritual darkness. Now, let’s go back to the light of day four and the light of day one. Lets consider “light verses Light,” and let’s consider God.

Consider our worship of God, “all of us for all of Him.”

John 4:24
King James Version (KJV)
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Holy Are You Lord

Isaiah 6:1-3
King James Version (KJV)
6 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
